Job Description:

The State of Michigan – Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking a Software Test Analyst 5 to support multiple custom .NET web application projects within the Department of Technology, Management, and Budget (DTMB). This role involves test planning, manual and automated test execution, API testing, SQL queries, and working within Agile teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Specialty Areas:

• Test Design & Execution: 5+ years in both manual and automated testing strategies.
  

• API & Database Testing: Proficient with Postman, Rest Client, and strong SQL/P-SQL skills.
  

• Test Methodologies & QA Processes: Experience across QA, UAT, SIT, Accessibility, Performance, Regression, and Data Conversion.
  

• Lifecycle & Environment Management: Skilled in building environment-specific test suites (DEV, UAT, QAT, PRE-PROD) with integrated ALM.
  

• Communication & Collaboration: Strong team and cross-functional coordination in Agile environments.
  

Responsibilities:

• Design, document, and execute manual and automated test cases.
  

• Develop and maintain test plans and strategies for various SDLC phases.
  

• Conduct thorough API testing using tools like Postman and Rest Client.
  

• Write complex SQL and P-SQL queries to validate data and back-end logic.
  

• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and end users to understand requirements and ensure quality delivery.
  

• Track and manage issues using defect tracking tools.
  

• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement processes.
  

• Generate testing reports and metrics for stakeholders.
  

• Ensure compliance with accessibility and security standards.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience designing and executing both manual and automated test cases.
  

• Strong expertise in API testing and query writing (SQL, P-SQL).
  

• Solid understanding of SDLC and secure application development lifecycle (SADLC).
  

• Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and in teams.
  

• Available for onsite work in Lansing, MI 2 days per week.
  

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship if converted to full-time.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with automated testing frameworks (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, etc.).
  

• Experience with mobile application testing (iOS, Android).
  

• Familiarity with ADA compliance tools (JAWS, AccVerify).
  

• Experience with performance/load testing tools (JMeter, LoadRunner).
  

• Familiarity with Azure DevOps Testing Module and Agile delivery pipelines.
